Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of SilverLake Car Rentals' website and booking services (the "Service"). By creating an account, making a booking, or applying as a driver-partner, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to book a vehicle. For self-drive bookings, you must hold a valid driving license recognised in Kenya and provide a copy of your license and a government-issued ID or passport before pickup. We may refuse a self-drive booking if these documents are missing, expired, or appear fraudulent.
2. Bookings & Payment
A booking is only confirmed once a deposit of at least 30% of the total rental cost has been received. The remaining balance is due before or at pickup. Payments are currently accepted via bank transfer - Co-operative Bank of Kenya, Paybill 400200, Account: 01101465587001 - payable via M-Pesa or directly from your own bank; a driver may also accept cash or a card payment in person for an assigned trip. Self-serve online card payments will be enabled in future. Prices are quoted in Kenyan Shillings (KES) and may change without notice for future bookings, but not for a booking you have already confirmed with a deposit.
3. Cancellations & Refunds
Cancellations and refunds are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy , which forms part of these Terms.
4. Self-Drive Rentals
When renting self-drive, you are responsible for the vehicle from pickup to return, including fuel, traffic fines, and any damage not covered by insurance. The vehicle may only be driven by the person named on the booking unless agreed with us in advance. Off-road use, racing, or use outside Kenya without our written consent is prohibited.
5. With-Driver Rentals
Where you book with a driver, the assigned driver-partner operates the vehicle at all times. You agree to treat the driver with respect and to use the vehicle for lawful purposes. Requests that would put the driver, vehicle, or other road users at risk may be declined.
6. Damage & Liability
You are liable for any damage to the vehicle caused by negligence, misuse, or a breach of these Terms during your rental period. Vehicles are insured in line with the details on file for that vehicle; insurance does not cover damage arising from reckless, unlicensed, or unauthorised use. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SilverLake Car Rentals is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the Service.
7. Driver-Partner Program
Individuals who list their own vehicle with us as a driver-partner do so subject to our review and approval of their documents (license, vehicle logbook, photos) and ongoing compliance with our vehicle safety and insurance requirements. We may suspend a driver-partner's account, with reason communicated to them, if these standards are not met.
8. Account Conduct
You agree to provide accurate information when registering or booking, and not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend or terminate an account that provides false information, abuses the platform, or breaches these Terms.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
